Can seemingly innocuous events in some obscure part of the third-world world have significant financial adverse consequences in the first-world? Can a tribal skirmish in Antofagasta, Chile affect the hourly workforce at the lithium production plant in Charleston, South Carolina? Is the cause reported at all, is the effect attributed correctly?

How …
Look at these events with skepticism, attempt to make correlations, call out the fraud and cynicism and lying for what it is – expose it in any way. Snippets of facts that each one of us can decide if impactful to our careers. Ironies by which to validate our understanding of the events that affect us. Fight chaos with chaos,^[1] and a great deal of sardonic wit.

I. Delta Airlines vs. Microsoft AzureWorld
You trusted THEM with your Business? And now you Complain?:

Delta Airlines claims to have lost us$500,000,000 in damages because of a “computer outage” … given its reliance on the Microsoft in-the-cloud suite of things that include in part Crowdstrike software stuff.

As much as they are loathed, wouldn’t you like to be the lawyers for the defendants?

Defendant lawyer: So why are we responsible for your damages?
Plaintiff CIO/CFO/CTO/CEO: Because you sold us a solution that runs our business.
Defendant lawyer: You knew the data and the applications are in the cloud, right?
Plaintiff CIO/CFO/CTO/CEO: Yes, but you gave us a SLA (Service Level Agreement) that guaranteed 99.99% up-time.
Defendant lawyer: Fair enough, so this purported “failure” was one of those 0.01% times. Besides, did you read in that very same SLA that our services – including protecting your data – does not include wars, acts of God, Black Swan Events and everything out of our control which means the millions of miles of fiber and scores of servers between your computers and ours that are susceptible to being hacked?

And for entertainment purposes, depose all of the “AI” programmers, xyz scientists, fill-in-the-blank-sophisticated titled people for Delta aking … “please explain in great detail how our product (Azure) does whatever it does using your terabytes of data when you drag-drop and/or stitch python libraries to do your AI/ML”.

Move along, move along. Delta’s CIO will simply get a buy-out and move to the next victim.

II. Liars All the Same
America’s Trading Partners – the Drug Cartels:

El Chapo, former head of the Sinaloa Cartel (one of the several governing bodies in Mexico) and depicted in a popular Netflix series (of course) and serving a life sentence in a U.S. supermax … has three sons collectively know as “los chapitos”. How cute!

One son was kidnapped some years ago in the “La Leche” ritzy (by price – the food sucks) restaurant in the resort town of Puerto Vallarta. After his release he kind of melted away …
Another son is named Joaquín Guzmán López.

Joaquín was incorrectly thought to be El Chapo’s replacement …

Not so because ever since the son was kidnapped El Chapo dissuaded his progeny from running the business. Doing the business, yes, running, well maybe not.

Since then, and with a us$15,000,000 bounty on his head, really really really running the Sinaloa Cartel was/is Ismael “El Mayo” Zambada García.
On July 25, 2024 Joaquín and Ismael fly from Sinaloa (there is actually a state in Mexico by this name) to a landing strip in either New Mexico (now not part of Mexico because it was stolen from Mexico by the evil gringos) or Texas (now not part of Mexico because also stolen from Mexico by the same evil gringos).
The Mexican clown feigning as “el presidente” Andrés Manuel Lopez Obrador (they like to have multiple names in their names – gives them a sense of prominence) acts in a news conference the next day claiming that Mexico’s air traffic control, military and the sarcastically named “law enforcement authorities” had NO IDEA, NO CLUE, NO NOTICE that these two fine folks (Joaquín and Ismael) were on a plane, flew over 50% of Mexican airspace and entered the U.S. completely undetected, completely unknown to the authorities (the fake ones as in the government, not the real ones as in the cartels).
Mexico’s Secretary of Security (pathetic, isn’t it, the same security that oversees 240 women PER DAY getting murdered or disappeared in Mexico), Rosa Icela Rodriguez, parrotted the same nonsense.
A similar talking head, this one for the good ol’ U.S. who is head of something or other, underling to Merrick Garland, gives a news conference and with a straight face stating that the U.S. had no knowledge of the flight, had no one tracking the plane into U.S. airspace (how’ s that for using $810BILLION per year in defense spending) and wasn’t sure how really it all went down. Right.
Ismael writes a letter (how is it that the most wanted drug lord in the world can write and publish a letter upon his arrest) claiming that he was kidnapped using a ruse that he was to meet with the governor of the state of Sinaloa, Rubén Rocha.
Naturally, Rubén Rocha denies such a meeting, and is immediately exonerated by Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador (el presidente), and by the la presidenta-elect Claudia Sheinbaum – that all three are of the same political party is inconsequential. Right.
And purely coincidental no doubt, Hector Cuén, a staunch political rival of Rocha that decried Rocha’s involvement with the Sinaloa Cartel is assassinated by two sicarios the very day that Ismael flew to the U.S. Assuredly just another murder in Mexico.
The Mexican Government (i.e., the Mexican Cartels) has pledged an investigation … not how a plane was not tracked but get this … how two of its citizens (upstanding citizens for sure) were “kidnapped” – assuredly by those evil gringos that have no right to prosecute drug lords responsible for untold deaths of U.S. citizens because the gringos stole Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, California, Nevada, Arkansas, Oklahoma, Alaska, Hawaii, Guam and even Maine from the Mexicans.
The U.S. Government, maintaining its Sgt. Schultz's schtick of not knowing how the plane entered the U.S. is due … just perhaps … that the ATC systems/radars failed because they run on Microsoft Azure and Crowdstrike software?

You can’t make this stuff up. But the “good” news for “governments” on both sides of the Rio Grande (also stolen from Mexico) is that the drug trade continues unabated.
